The 6,000 square meter park has been recently landscaped. In addition to the public access to the black sand beach, the park has beautiful shaded relaxation areas with, among others, beach soccer, volleyball and petanque courts.

The murals that adorn the bathroom/shower block are a nod to the history of the place. Tautira's Maire Nui team of boaters have dominated Tahitian pirogue racing for 30 years. Almost undefeated in all categories for both men and women

The people of Tautira face the sea and the beach. It is also a popular place for trolling, net fishing (bonito, wild fish…) and underwater fishing. In the past, Tautira seems to have been considered the center of worship where the first marae of the Windward Islands dedicated to Oro, the Taputapuatea marae, was built.
