Like the Heiva i Tahiti, the Hura Tapairu is a traditional dance competition with however particular rules, thus touching different dance groups, targeting in particular small troupes and offering a great freedom in choreography, theme, songs and creation.
he 1st edition of the Hura Tapairu was held in 2004 with 8 groups registered, increasing to 38 groups of all categories in 2017. This represents more than 800 artists including dancers, choreographers, musicians, singers, etc..
The Hura Tapairu offers a chance to groups little known to the general public to create a surprise as has been the case every year.
